The composition of Alloy 20 Flanges consists mainly of nickel (32–38%), iron (balance), chromium (19–21%), molybdenum (2–3%), copper (3–4%), with small additions of manganese, silicon, and carbon. This special combination provides excellent resistance to sulfuric acid, stress corrosion cracking in chlorides, and pitting. Furthermore, the mechanical properties include a tensile strength of about 551 MPa, yield strength of 241 MPa, and elongation of about 30–40%. Alloy 20 flanges have the added benefit of strength and toughness, along with excellent resistance to corrosion, making them very suited for harsh chemical and industrial settings.
