Stainless Steel 347 flanges are made primarily of iron, with 17–19% chromium, 9–13% nickel, and additions of niobium and tantalum for enhanced stability against carbide precipitation. This composition provides excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion and high-temperature oxidation. Mechanically, SS 347 flanges offer high tensile strength (around 515 MPa), yield strength (minimum 205 MPa), and good elongation (about 40%). They maintain strength and toughness at elevated temperatures, making them ideal for use in heat exchangers, chemical processing, and high-pressure piping systems.
